Forwarded Notification from the Ministry of Education: To help protect Taiwan from serious animal diseases like African Swine Fever (ASF), the Ministry of Education has asked schools to remind international students about Taiwan’s quarantine rules.

Dear Students,

The Dragon Boat Festival is coming soon. During this time, more cases of illegal meat imports are usually found.

To protect Taiwan’s agriculture and keep African Swine Fever (ASF) out of the country, please read and follow these important rules:

1. Do NOT bring any animal or plant products into Taiwan — including meat, sausages, ham, or other pork products.

2. Tell your family and friends abroad not to send pork or meat products to Taiwan by mail.

3. If you bring pork products from countries with ASF outbreaks:
1st offense: Fine of NT$200,000 / 初次違規:罰款新台幣20萬元
2nd offense: Fine of NT$1,000,000 / 再次違規:罰款新台幣100萬元
If you don’t have residency and cannot pay the fine on the spot, you may be denied entry to Taiwan.

4. If someone mails pork to you from an ASF-affected country:
1st offense: NT$200,000 fine / 初次違規:罰款新台幣20萬元
2nd or more: NT$1,000,000 fine / 第二次或以上:罰款新台幣100萬元
