Celebrating the Moon's Glow: Cultural Exchange Blossoms at STUST Mid-Autumn Festival
Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (abbreviated as
STUST) held a series of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in mid-September,
attracting approximately 544 international students and local students from all
over the world. The event enriched students' cultural horizons and helped them
to learn more about the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival culture in Taiwan, extending
a cross-border cultural exchange in campus.
The event primarily aimed to provide international students with an
immersive experiential journey into the vibrant tapestry of traditional
Taiwanese Mid-Autumn Festival customs. International students from across the
globe, hailing from Cambodia, Germany, Thailand, Vietnam, Swaziland, the
Philippines, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Austria, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, and
Switzerland, enriched the event with their participation. By engaging in a
variety of interactive activities, they were able to experience the unique
charm and atmosphere of the traditional Taiwanese festival up close.
The event also invited international students to introduce autumn
festivals in their home countries, allowing faculty and students to learn more
about cultures from all over the world. At the same time, Taiwanese students
from the university showed their cultural exchange foundation by sharing traditional
Mid-Autumn Festival folk stories, conveying a deeper understanding of Taiwanese
culture among international students.
During the event, international students and local students worked
together to paint moon lanterns, which was not only an artistic creation but
also a symbol of unity and integration among students from different
backgrounds on this land. When the moon lanterns were lit up one by one, it
seemed to ignite every bond and memory, creating a warm and touching
atmosphere. In addition to cross-cultural exchange, all participants shared
delicious food exclusively prepared for the Mid-Autumn Festival, creating a warm
and welcoming atmosphere.
This Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural Day not only brought international
students and local students closer together, but also promoted cross-cultural
exchange and understanding. STUST will continue to strive to hold diversified
and meaningful events to make the campus a place where diverse cultures can
blend together.
