Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

International Student ARC Application and Renewal (Extension) Guidelines

According to Taiwan regulations, international students entering Taiwan with a resident visa are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) within 30 days of arrival through the National Immigration Agency.

The ARC is an important legal identification document for residing in Taiwan and is also required for matters such as National Health Insurance enrollment, opening a bank account, applying for a mobile phone number, and re-entry procedures. Students are advised to keep the ARC properly at all times.

The ARC is generally valid for one year. Students are responsible for monitoring the expiration date and applying for renewal before it expires to ensure their legal residency and student status in Taiwan remain valid.
