Transatlantic Strategies in a Changing World: U.S. Foreign Policy, China Challenge, and Defense Resilience

Conference Details:
In an era marked by intensifying great-power competition and rapidly evolving security challenges, the United States and its allies face a critical juncture. Shifts in U.S. foreign policy have reshaped the transatlantic relationship, compelling European partners to reassess their own strategies toward global order, defense commitments, and economic resilience. At the same time, the rise of China as a systemic challenger has introduced new layers of complexity to international politics, requiring greater coordination among democracies on trade, technology, and values-based diplomacy.

This conference brings together scholars and policy practitioners to explore the evolving dynamics of U.S. foreign policy, the European response, and the prospects for transatlantic cooperation in addressing shared challenges. Particular attention will be paid to the strategic competition with China, with panels examining policy coordination, technological rivalry, and the geopolitical consequences for allies and partners worldwide.

Beyond the transatlantic dimension, the conference also highlights the importance of defense resilience in an age of emerging technologies. The roundtable will address how AI, drones, and cyber capabilities are reshaping security strategies, with a special focus on Taiwan’s role in the broader defense architecture. By engaging diverse perspectives, the conference aims to foster dialogue on how the United States, the European Union, and their partners can collectively navigate the uncertainties of the 21st century.
