2023 Latern Painting Cultural Day

Southern Taiwan University of Technology (STUST) held a unique cultural day event on October 16, 2023, attracting 15 international students from different countries. The event, themed "Lantern Painting," allowed international students to deeply experience the atmosphere of traditional festivals, while celebrating the upcoming Year of the Dragon and the 400th anniversary of the founding of Tainan.

The main purpose of the event was to allow international students to experience the process of lantern painting. Students from different countries, including Germany, Vietnam, Switzerland, and Japan, were invited to create and paint their own lanterns, incorporating their own creative ideas into the works to create unique and valuable pieces. In addition to the lantern painting experience, the event was primarily intended to provide international students with the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Taiwan's traditional festival. Sharing the joy of the upcoming Year of the Dragon and the 400th anniversary of the founding of Tainan, as if the students had been integrated into the festive atmosphere

Each lantern exquisitely crafted by the students will be exhibited at the well-known "2024 Shennong Street Dragon Year Lantern Festival" in Tainan from the New Year's Day to the Lantern Festival, becoming a part of the brightly lit lanterns, lighting up the hearts of the people who come to see the lanterns. It is worth mentioning that this event notably broadened the scope of learning beyond the confines of the campus, giving international students the opportunity to participate in local community activities, deepening their ties to local culture, enhancing their sense of belonging, and improving the interaction between the school and the local community.

STUST will continue to organize and kick off diversified cultural day events to provide students with more rich and colorful cultural experiences, while also promoting the integration of international students with the local community and international exchanges.
