2023 National Day Cultural Experience

Southern Taiwan University of Technology (STUST) held a Cultural Day event on October 24, 2023, with the theme of "National Day" to fully demonstrate the festive atmosphere of National Day and promote Taiwanese culture. The event invited international students from 8 countries, including Cambodia, Germany, Thailand, Vietnam, Swaziland, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Netherlands, to participate. The students and teachers of the university's affiliated preschool were also invited to share the international friendship.

At the beginning of the event, the origin and celebration activities of Taiwan's National Day were introduced, including flag-raising ceremony, military parade, concert, fireworks, etc. International students said that they did not know the origin of Taiwan's National Day before, and they also felt very interested in Taiwan's celebration activities.

Next, international students learned about the background and festive elements of National Day in each country through group discussion. According to the national flags of each country, share the date of National Day, the celebrations, etc. During the activity, international students not only learned about the National Day customs of each country, but also improved their understanding of each other.

 In addition, the event specially invited the children of the affiliated preschool of STUST to exchange and interact with international students who came to Taiwan. The children not only presented handmade gifts to international students to express their welcome and friendship; in order to make this event more profound, the children and international students also jointly created National Day cup bags, and painted the cup bags with colorful colors, creating unforgettable memories for each other.

The international students who participated in the activity said that they were very happy to have the opportunity to learn about the information related to Taiwan's National Day, and they also thanked the children of the affiliated preschool of the university for their enthusiasm and energy. One student said: "The children are very cute and creative. I like to make cup bags with them. This is an unforgettable memory."

It is hoped that through the Cultural Day activities, international students will have the opportunity to experience Taiwanese culture and traditions, and build friendship with students from different countries. International exchange is an important part of promoting internationalization. STUST has always been dedicated to international exchange affairs. It is hoped that through various activities, international students will leave good memories in Taiwan.
